—Ghosts
#234 - “Ghosts” by Laura Marling. Hey y’all, howzabout another music post? My mama always said finish what you start, and I promise I will one day reach the end of the alphabet. Today’s song comes from the delightfully talented Laura Marling…who’s like the same age as me and is touring around the world and seeming beyond her years in more ways than one. When this song was recorded, I think she was only 18, but she sings with the maturity and the weight of someone who’s been through a great deal and had time to reflect and develop some profound thoughts.

One can also argue pretty easily that this song is directed at Charlie from Noah and the Whale (and he sings during the chorus). And he wrote a bunch of songs about her. Awwww foreign indie teenager power couple drama! Love it! Anyway, the chorus is great and joyous sounding even though the message is kind of a downer, albeit realistic.
“Lover please do not fall to your knees, it’s not like I believe in everlasting love.”
