—What Katie Did
#239 - “What Katie Did” by The Libertines. First world problems- having a large amount of difficulty trying to choose one song from a band to post on your blog because you love them so much. This is my situation. The Libertines= my high school years. They’re the kinda band where every song has a special place in my heart. But this song is consistently one of my all-time favorites. Mayhaps you’ve heard of Pete Doherty’s crazy drug-addicted antics, causing The Libertines to break up (and subsequently causing my heart to break). But the other three guys went and formed Dirty Pretty Things, so I’ll let it slide.
The “shoop shoop, shoop delang delang”s are a nice retro touch, sort of a different direction than their normally more rock/punk sound. Their recordings are somewhat sloppy across the board (prolly cos of drugs ‘n’ booze in the studio), but they pull it off due to their brilliantly catchy songwriting and arrangements. These guys make me want to move to the UK to be a musician. Please enjoy.
